A few that come to mind are:
Concrete Angel by Martina McBride
Adam's Song by Blink 182
What's The Matter Here by 10,000 Maniacs
Cold Turkey by John Lennon
Hurt by NIN
Synchronicity II by the Police (lyrics below)

Another suburban morning
Grandmother screaming at the wall

We have to shout above the din of our Rice Crispies
We can't hear anything at all
Mother chants her litany of boredom and frustrations
But we know all her suicides are fake

Daddy only stares into the distance
There's only so much more that he can take
Many miles away something crawls from the slime at the
Bottom of a dark Scottish lake

Another industrial ugly morning
The factory belches filth into the sky
He walks unhindered through the picket lines today
He doesn't think to wonder why
The secretaries pout and preen like cheap tarts on a red light street
But all he ever thinks to do is watch
And every single meeting with his so-called superior
Is a humiliating kick in the crotch
Many miles away something crawls to the surface of a dark Scottish lake

Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
Contestants in a suicidal race
Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break
He sees the family home now looming in the headlights
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache
Many miles away there's a shadow on the door of a cottage on the
Shore of a dark Scottish lake

The all time winner for depressing music is almost any ballad by Billie Holliday. I was trying to think of the name of the album that will drive you to either go on grugs or drink(as she was doing all of her career). So you can see her inspiration was very real - she lived the misery that she sang about. Very stirring.......................
But anyway this album has the word Satin in the title and its the only one she did with strings.
It was said that some people committed suicide when they heard her sing "Strange Fruit on Southern Trees" in some areas after that, this song was banned from the radio in some places.

Motley Crue's "Driftaway" it's good and also "Misunderstood". The last one goes from sadness to rage, I like that!

Driftaway

Look inside the mirror
But I don't know who I see
Smoke another cigarette
A smile holds back the tears
These contradictions
Seem to be the story of my life
A simple man with memories
Of those long lost golden days
I close my eyes and slowly driftaway...

Misunderstood

Little old man contemplates
Suicide twice a day
Life's passed him by
Little old woman scared and blind
Left alone in desperate times
Life's passed her by
Oh, life it's misunderstood them
So they close their eyesAnd dream of better days
Oh, life it's misunderstood, yeah
Life's not always fair or so they say...

Heaven knows Im miserable now - The Smiths

I was happy in the haze,
of a drunken daze,
but heaven know's Im miserable now,
I was looking for a job,
and then I found a job,
and heaven knows Im miserable now,

In my life,
why do give valuable time,
to people who dont care if I live or die?

Etc. Etc. Etc.

I say 'Nothing to Lose' by Billy Talent

But it totally depends on how old you are, cuz if you're a little older...than like, 18? i dunno...then it probably won't have the same effect seeing as it's about a kid in school.

and just for the heck of it:

Need more friends with wings
All the angels I know Put concrete in my veins
I’d always walk home alone
So I became lifeless Just like my telephone

There’s nothing to lose
When no one knows your name
There’s nothing to gain
But the days don’t seem to change

Never played truth or dare
I’d have to check my mirror To see if I’m still here
My parents had no clue That I ate all my lunches
Alone in the bathroom

There’s nothing to lose
When no one knows your name
There’s nothing to gain
But the days don’t seem to change
There’s nothing to lose
My notebook will explain
There’s nothing to gain
And I can’t fight the pain

Teachers said "it's just a phase"
When I grow up my children Will probably do the same
Kids just love to tease
Who'd know it put me underground at seventeen

There’s nothing to lose
When no one knows your name
There’s nothing to gain
But the days don’t seem to change
There’s nothing to lose
My notebook will explain
There’s nothing to gain
And I can’t fight the pain
There’s nothing to lose
When no one knows your name
There’s nothing to gain
But the days don’t seem to change
There’s nothing to lose
My notebook will explain

There’s nothing to lose
When no one knows your name
There’s nothing to gain
And I just died today
