do i need a new sound card for surround sound??

all right im buying a 5.1 speaker system for my computer, now do i need a special sound card for 5.1 surround sound? do i need a new card at all? thanks all

If you have a sound blaster (by Creative) card that supports more than 2 speakers, you should be ok. But if all you are using is the stereo out puts from the mother board, you may have to get a card.

If ur motherboard support 5.1 or evevn 6.1 speaker system, u r safe, if not u better get one.
