Is Catch 22 a good read?

Easy flowing? A good thing to read?

Catch-22 is marvelous, but I wouldn't call it "easy-flowing". It's told in a very disjointed style. For instance, I believe he mentions "the dead man in Yossarian's tent" in the first couple of pages, but doesn't get around to explaining it until about halfway through the book. You end up seeing the same scene several different times from different angles. The style actually fits the story and the theme very well.

Read it. You may be confused the first time through, but it's worth the effort.

I read it when I was in my teens, and honestly understood very little of it. I haven't reread it lately, but I actually recall it very well so I don't need to.

I'd have to agree it isn't particularly easy flowing. Nor is it a laugh aloud book, although you'll spend much of your reading time with a quirky smile on your face.

It was also the first time I ever found an explanation of deja vu, and an intro to the other vu's!

Catch 22 is my all-time favourite book! It usually takes some people a couple of reads to understand, since it does tend to be a bit convoluted, be so well worth it! I grin just thinking about it! It is my must-re-read every year.

Yeah- I agree with most of these guys. Its not easy to read as you have to get into the style which can be tricky.
Its not as hard to grasp as Pynchon but then its no Dan Brown either (thank the lord).

I wouldnt call it easy flowing. Its a little confusing but once I caught on I loved it.
