your friends should settle the issue by themselved. If they don't like each other, you can't do anything about it. It's way beyond your powers.

However, to avoid ugly moments in happening, try scheduling a different girlfriend time for both of them. They are both your friends, so they will understand if you need to be either one of them at different occassions, but not both at the same time.

Last, you could at least try talking to both of them. The three of you could talk. Ask them what pisses them off of each other. Talking could help.

Hate to say it but you have tolerated this gossip! I would tell them that you love them for them and don't feel like it is fair to bring up things that just make you feel uncomfortable, tell them that you are too good of a friend to let anyone put them down and you would appreciate if they would show you the same respect.
Let them know that your not forcing them to like all your friends but that you won't listen to the back biting either, so come up with a new subject or to call you when they do!
Good luck!

Sounds to me as though they aren't really good friends at all. Honestly? Immaturity could be a good explanation!

Tell your "friends" that if they don't learn to get along, they'll lose out on even another friend -- you. You don't need to be the rope in their little tug-o-war.

Dump them and get new friends. It's not very 'friendly' of them to treat you like that.
