This depends a lot on the individual. All people with spesis need treatment from a doctor (antibiotics, hopefully specific to the type of bacteria present in the blood).

My son had sepsis at 5 days old. He started acting odd during the late morning on that Thursday. By that night he was in the hospital on a ventilator. By Friday morning he was breathing on his own again. He acted like a "normal" newborn by Saturday afternoon. So, for him, it took about 2 days, with treatment.

It would be different for everyone. That's a very serious blood infection and the body will need to re cooperate. Be sure that he person is eating very healthy and getting plenty of rest.
