Does anyone use "jump the boat" as an expression meaning the same thing as "jump the gun"?

I have heard the term 'jump ship' but never 'jump the boat' but maybe it,s a regional thing. And it does not mean the same thing as 'jump the gun'.

It probably can be used the same. Jumping the boat means don't leap before you look or to make sure you think about something before you go through with it.
