I personally think 19 pounds is wonderful. You have to consider that when you are pregnant, your blood volume ( the amount of blood in your body) increases significantly, as well as the weight of placenta, amniotic fluid, and extra fluid your body carries, and of course, baby!
The best judge though of your weight gain is your Ob/gyn doctor. And so is possible delivery date. Remember all pregnancies are different, and you and your baby are unique- try not to compare yourself to everyone else, and enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy. And please, get some extra sleep now- as it gets closer, you will be more excited, nervous, and baby bigger, and it will get harder to sleep, and when your baby comes, sleep is as precious as gold!!

The American guidelines for weight gain are actually higher than the European ones...here they say 25-30 lbs is recommended and overseas they say 16-25. I gained a total of 21 lbs and my son came 2 weeks early and was just under 8 lbs. As far as him being breech, you're right in that he might still turn. Several of my friends who were first time moms had babies that came early...sometimes the doctor is just not totally right about the conception date. Be prepared in case the baby does come early (I was NOT packed or ready at all!) and just listen to your body and eat normally. Also, the baby's growth tapers off at the end. As long as your doctor says all seems well, do exactly what you've been doing and go to movies, get a pedicure and go out to dinner, as you will not be able to do this for a while afterwards...good luck!

No, that's a good amount. I've read that you don't put on much weight in the last few weeks anyway. Good luck with the baby. I hope he turns for you! I just watched Birth Day on Discovery Health, all about breech babies. Kind of scary, but I'm sure you'll be okay. At least they will keep an eye on him.

Its normal to gain 25-30 lbs during a pregnancy. If your doctor isn't concerned that you haven't gained more than 19lbs then you are fine. The size of your baby doesn't really have that much to do with your weight gain, your weight gain should be what your body needs to successfully "grow" a new life.

From what I was ever told it is recommended that women gain in the area of 24 pounds total. You and the baby gain the most at the end of the pregnancy, and you have nine more weeks to be gaining. There's a chance you may be gaining "on the high side", but - really - you should just ask your doctor.
You're right about his having time to turn.
As far as whether his large size may cause him to arrive early, that's really another one to ask your doctor; but as far as I've ever heard the only reason a large baby would arrive early may be because the mother has her dates wrong.
My doctor told me, "Generally, large women; large babies. Small-framed women; small babies." That applied to me and as far as I've seen has applied to other women I've known. If you're a large-framed person that could explain your baby's size.

Dont worry about breech just yet, you still have 9 weeks for him to turn. As far as weight gain...OMG why are you worried? Lots of woman gain upto 50 sometimes 60 pounds. Your fine. Dont count on the fact he is big, that he will come early. My 2nd son was big and they induced me!

Your doing great!!! Most women over edulge during pregnancy...including myself! In your last months of your pregnancy you will be putting on more weight pretty fast because the last months are when the baby gains it's weight. But don't worry it sounds like you are doing great...Keep up the walking and drink plenty of water!!! Good luck! I hope you have a health happy baby and delivery!

You are lucky. I was 110 and went to 161. the baby weighed 8lbs.& 5.6 ozs. The next one I was 125 and went to 201 That baby weighed 8lbs & 14ozs. So no you have not gained that much weight. He might come early but if he has not turned and he is big he might not.
