I was watching the Simpsons the other day and Homer said he was going to call the suicide hotline. I have never heard of it before.
What is it used for?

It's for people who are hopeless, depressed, need someone to talk to, or want to get some help or advice. Some callers are suicidal and the counsellors on the line are trained to best support these individuals.

One line is called the Hope Line, and the number is 1-800-SUICIDE.

A suicide hotline is for people who are thinking of committing suicide and need somewhere to turn to for help.

Here are the National numbers:
1-800-SUICIDE* 1-800-273-TALK
1-800-784-2433* 1-800-273-8255
