he doesnt seem to b sick in any way, theres no sign of mites or infections. could it b the time of year when they breed?

What kind of python? Burmese, Ball? Is the temperature and humidity levels correct?
If everything else is right, he could be getting ready to shed. If you python is indeed a male, he doesn't really get into a "mating season", only females really do, unless he around a female when they are in their breeding season.

It could be a couple of different things. What kind of pyhton is it? Some wouldn't need more than one rat, even though they're capable of eating three. Most likely he's going into shed. Check his eyes, if they have a blue tint to them, he'll shed out in 3-5 days. It's also possible that the temp. or humidity is off. Check those out, if they're good, it probably just a shed.
