we don't seem to be getting along for a long time now. He is the most beautiful person as far as gentle, sweet, patient helps out around the house like no other. But we are having disagreements about the kids he has 2 I have 1 and we don't agree on issues, this is so hard for me because I love him but it's gotten more complecated since the kids are teens and almost teens. The e-mail basically said things need to get better or I want out. But I don't truly want out. Yikes!

You already sent the email so he knows that you will either leave or that you won't follow through on your threat. Your situation is common. The good news is that it's fixable.
You both have to be on the same page for punishment for the kids, whatever it is. You both have to be on the same page that the relationship between you and him isn't any business of the kids. His kids can't question you and yours can't question him about your relationship. That's the rule. Other than that, you can compromise on the kids with two little truths that will help solve your problems. First, always smile. Second, be polite. Good Luck
