My best friend is moving away within a month. She recently broke up with her boyfriend, and today she put in her two weeks notice at work. What's more, I'm in love with her. I told her this recently, though we're still just good friends. Doesn't look like that's going to change, but I want to give her something to remember me by. I was thinking something like a promise ring or a pendant, though I know next to nothing when it comes to jewelry. I was also thinking maybe something with her birthstone, which is the emerald. So, would anyone out there care to give me any suggestions or reccomendations on the perfect gift for the woman I love? Specifically any advice on where to look? I'll try to keep in touch with her, though odds are I'll never see her again. And I want her to know I will always love her. And that I'll always be there for her. I love her, and I don't want her to forget me. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

A gift of time (if she moving she may need help with things) and a photo of you together (maybe doing something you both enjoy) to remind her of you.
A phone card may not be as classy but can be as touching, in that it implies that you really would like to keep in touch.

I'd have to agree with her. It seems like you know what to get her, but trouble deciding what exactly you want to get her. Since she is your friend, maybe you should get those photo frames where you can put a collage of photos of awesome memories you two had together. For example. www.epictureframes.com. Hope this is an answer you were kind of looking for.
This might be corny and I'm going to be random here. I saw this in Sex n the City. Big had to leave the city and Carrie had to go help Miranda deliver her baby. So what happens is when she goes to his apartment she gets a record i think because it was her favorite record and a ticket to where he was living in case she got lonely. So I'm thinkin, give her a card with airline miles so if she ever felt lonely, that she can come see you.
