The speeds of each of the physical drives(same RPM) are about the same even though the SATA interface is faster. What makes SATA makes better is, it's an up-to-date standard. It's a matter of time when the 40 pin interface will disappear from motherboards all together. Look at what USB did to RS-232.

Data can be easily dumped between SATA and UATA drives on computers that have both types of controllers.

There are SATA to IDE converters to connect older IDE drives to SATA controllers. Then there IDE to SATA converters for older mother boards.

well make a back up disk or a file transfer from an old disk to a new disk and it will image a file so you can load it on the uata. well it doesn't matter which one is better as long as it gets the job done. UATA is slower than SATA because it starts at 33.Mbps while Sata starts at 150Mbps. Serial is using one data line from point to point connections.so ur frend is wrong.

extremely ATA is depending on the technical specification extremely DMA/33. A joint attempt designed through Intel, Quantum and Seagate to provide the subsequent era interface for computer structures. yet Serial Ata are a lot extra diverse and swifter!

There is a reason why he said that, but as a storage device for data, SATA is better, faster, wire better
