when does your gas gauge read empty (right on the empty line)? In other words how many gallons are left in your tank when your gauge reads empty (mine is almost 3 gallons, talk about being on the safe side).

Most vehicles have a gallon or two or three, (if you are lucky.) Today's cars and trucks are fuel injected and the gauges have warning lights that tell you have less the 1/8 of a tank. That is because if you run it out of gas you have a tendency of burning up the pump. At over $100.00 for the module, that can get a little expensive. So if you are driving a modern car or truck, do not wait for it to almost run out of gas before you put fuel in it.

Your gas tank will read empty when the needle is right on the E. Some cars however will actually have 1 to 3 gallons of gas remaining giving you enough gas to make it to a gas station.

This changes on each car or truck, better to err on the safe side.
I have one truck when it says empty you better be at a gas station or have a 5 gallon can in the back.

I have two cars.
One has about two gallons in the tank at empty.
The other will run dry about two blocks after the guage hits empty.

Be wise, drive as if that guage is accurate and you should never have to walk to get gas.
