Is there a remedy for this problem?

It shouldn't if it was installed properly. I would contact the people who installed it, and be assertive. If they won't help you, you could take a hammer and hammer them. It would flatten the pointy tips. Hope this helps.

The nail strips are only supposed to be along the walls, and not where you walk, as across a doorway. The doorway should rather have a "transition strip", which crimps down on that part of the carpet.

Noooooo, and if they are puncturing your bare feet you can get several infections. Especially from rusty nails, if a company put the carpet in, contact them and if you put the carpet in, remember next time things are best left to the pros

unfortunately yes it is very common, but its not the carpets fault its the installation, a real simple fix is take a hammer and "tap" the problem areas when you find them. when you replace the carpet have them use carpet tape instead of tack strips..good luck.

This might not be the best answer, but when the nails were poking through my carpet, I hit them with a hammer. It worked.

No, it is not normal. Are you feeling nails everywere or just next to the walls?

You need to call the installer back and let him know this is not working and he needs to fix it.
I had that happen to me one time. It is not the way it is suppose to be.
