If there any way to legally own a Barrett 82A1 50 caliber rifle in Canada? If so, what is the process? Thanks in advance!

If the Chief Firearms Officer in your province says so. The Barrett 82A1 .50 cal is specifically prohibited in all forms, both off-the-shelf and modified models. It is listed in Prohibited Weapons Order #11, part of the Firearms Act, which was accepted as part of the updated Criminal Code in 1998. However, under Part 3 of the Special Authority to Possess Regulations (part of the Firearms Act), the provincial CFO can grant you a special license to own a prohibited firearm for transport and use at an approved firing range in target shooting or competition events. So you need to get in touch with the CFO and ask him/her about getting the application. Expect lots of pointed questions about your planned uses of the rifle.
