perhaps coz that's just that... a WEDDING ring, just for the wedding and not for playing with other girls or working with your hands!
I heard a guy lost a finger in a train because the ring got trapped or something like that .. the point is that a ring was guilty

I used to work in two factories and a warehouse. In the warehouse situation, I wouldn't wear it at work, because I did wear my first ring, and lost it loading a customer's order in his truck. I felt so guilty that I bought another. At the two factories, it was a safety issue. The ring can get caught up in the machinery and he could lose a finger. I am a 1st Responder also, and I actually had a fellow employee who was a new hire. He chose to wear his ring (he was a newly wed) after I told him to take it off. He ended up getting his hand caught in a press and crushed his hand, and as you can guess, he lost his whole hand. There are men who will not wear their rings so they can seem to be available, but don't think that the ring will be a "keep away" sign to other women. One of my best friends, living in Sacramento, CA stopped wearing his ring because of the opposite: When he wore his ring, he couldn't keep women from approaching him.almost as if they considered it a challenge. It can work both ways, and just because a guy doesn't wear a ring, it doesn't necessarily mean he is trying to have his cake and eat it too.

I am getting married next May and will display my ring and married statis with pride. Other men do not wear the rings for various reasons. One might be that they are allergic to the metal in the ring. Another might be that they just don't have it on when not with their partner, as they are attempting to play house when she's not around. Wish I could be of more help but that's all I can think of at this time.

I worked in a factory for about a month and no one was to wear wedding rings due to the fact if they got their hand caught in a press or machine they would most likely loose their finger. Also I know some don't just because they hate them.

Probably some of them will do that for women not to notice if they are married. However, why is that so important? I prefer married men who behave themselves as married men despite not having a ring, than those who wear a ring in their finger but it doesn't mean anything in their values or moral.

Well, my Dad didn't wear one all through my childhood because he did manual labor. His fingers would swell, and they were blistered from hard work. I also found out later that he has metal allergies. He now wears a titanium band and that seems to help. On a side note, my present husband stopped wearing his band before we formally separated. It really hurt me, and I still don't have all the answers as to why he did it. I suppose that a man might stop wearing his ring while separated even without the formal divorce decree.

I did not wear mine for a year or two. I worked In a shop and though it was against OSHA standards, usually no one would say much. Then we got a diff rent boss who did. At the time I was rock climbing on the weekends. And a rings not a good thong to have on.So I got use to having it off. It seemed to me I got allot more attention with it on anyway, and sometimes I did not like that.

I do not wear one and I am married, I have one. My main reason is my job, I'm a mechanic. I have seen and heard many mechanic stories of getting it ripped off while working on stuff. Also have heard some stories of it burning the skin when getting it too close to hot engine parts. It happened to me but I realized that it was getting warm and moved my hand away fast, I have not worn it since that day. I do not wear any Jewelery for the same reason. I used to wear a watch but I always broke them on something.

when I was married I never took mine off. On the day the divorce was final i did. I think that it's a sign of respect to your wife if you do-shows you where respect got me.
To those who work in the trades and are concerned about de-gloving injuries. There is a way to put cuts inside a ring that will allow to expand easily if pulled on . A competent jeweler will know how to do this.

My mom and dad have been married for 28 years and my dad has never worn a ring. He just doesn't like the way it feels to wear a ring. Some men don't wear one because maybe at work they operate machinery and can't wear one for safety reasons.
