Unrated films! Bit of a con really, you might get one extra swear word and an elongated scene of blood gushing from the victim and thats about it - what it is is the movie makers way of getting more money out of people, a fan of the film will inevitably end up buying both versions. As for the scare factor its really not that much more than the original just shots that linger a little more on the gore, but thats irrelevant as its the SMACK, BANG, SLOSH of the moment of the horror that has the initial and long-lasting effect, being able to view the spoils a little longer is neither here nor there!

Nothing, its just a gimmick to sell and rent more dvds. There might be a deleted scene or alternate ending, but the only movie I have seen where you for sure want to rent the unrated is Butterfly Effect, has a whole different ending and many added scenes than the R version.

The story and movies good. The unrated one may have a few extra scenes. Either version should be fine.

Don't waste your time on either version.
If you want a similar but vastly superior movie, try the original 'The Exorcist' or the 25 anniversary release. Great movie that set the standard.
The exorcism of Emily Rose is not scary (was watching with a few friends one of whom gets scared easily, but even she found it boring).
To see the power of 'The Exorcist' try this experiment, listen to the sound track, Tubular Bells, by Mike Oilfield, before watching the movie. Then listen to it after the movie. See what's the difference in your impressions of the movie.
If you've watched it already, try Psycho, The Shining, or Les Yeux Sans Visage.

The unrated one will not have any editing (deletions of sensitive material). I always get UNRATED if they offer it. Its the version before the liberals get to it.
BTW, its a great flick.

maybe some more extreme footage that they cut out of the regular version. I generally prefer the unrated or directers cut when ever possible

Unrated is like an uncut more gory version of the theateres verision, so if your not up for that wait for the normal one!

the unrated one will have more scenes in it, but they will be filled with more of the things that cause a higher rating so it will have more language, violence, gore, etc. I would rather see something else.
