like does hollywood portray the real classroom situation, do popular girls really have groupies, and that is there such things as the popular table reserved only for the popular, cause in our university we got no such thing if youre intelligent youre popular we dont care of how you dress, if youre good natured then you are popular and envied, if you are beautiful but dumb we dont care about you,,,it seems that in america even though theyre dumb just as long as they are good looking they become popular,,,,how low

it's not as true as hollywood would have you believe. jocks and cheerleaders are popular...among other jocks and cheerleaders.
in my experience, the jocks were just as nice or not nice as everyone else in school. some jocks thought they were All Stars and acted the part...most were just good kids.
it is true that there are "cliques", or groups of teens who hang out together...and jocks/cheerleaders tend to hang out with themselves...and each clique tends to identify other cliques based on what they spend thier time doing.
kids who hang out in the smoking lounge do not tend to associate with kids who hang out running track...kids who play football dont typically hang out with kids in band...kids who study all of the time tend to live in the library/study hall...and they typically hang with each other, etc.
there are exceptions to this. I wrestled and played football, but also sang in choir, with another guy who wrestled one weight class below me...on the wrestling mat his nickname was "Mad Dog"...in choir he was just another guy trying to carry a tune.

Once again people believe Hollywood. No not where I come from. They do not have groupies here in Missouri. Some are popular and some are not. Mostly it's just personality that makes people popular. Please remember that Hollywood is a super rich town in California that is made up of people that are super famous and have no idea what reality is all about. I Chatted with a person one time that thought that everyone in Missouri was just like the Clampets in the Beverly Hillbillies. I have lived here my whole life and NEVER met anyone close to being like that. Remember Hollywood only shows the beautiful people ,never the ones with real human flaws.

In my high school the most popular people were NOT jocks and cheerleaders, although some cheerleaders were well liked and some guys who played sports were popular, but it wasn't like their involvement MADE them popular, there were several girls on the cheerleading squad who were not well liked and several guys who played sports who no body knew. The popular people in my school were for the most part good looking, but they also had the personality and character to go along with it to a point. None of the people who won Homecoming queen (or king) were honor students but I bet they all got good grades, so I wouldn't call them stupid. None of them were my friends, and I really didn't care.

Absolutely, I graduated from a very rural School district, and even we had the class structure. But then again where I grew up, there were only two kinds of people...you were either rich or dirt poor, no middle class whatsoever. Luckily my parents had just enough so that I fit into the rich category, and even though I hated doing it, I participated in the ridicule of those less fortunate...simply because we could and if we didnt we would be the ones ridiculed.

Well, sort of. There is a group in every high school known as 'popular'. Funny thing is (at least as I remember), they pretty much only like each other and other people more or less ignored them or couldn't stand them, yet they were popular.
They'd win class elections by virtue of their 'popularity' and others just not running against them because they weren't popular enough.
It's pretty sad, but it's quite amusing at reunions to find out the best years of their life were in high school, while everyone else has moved onward and upward to their 'best'. :)

Well at my high school less than half of the school likes the cheerleaders...besides freaks geeks nerds and the average make up more of the population of the school than the "popular" so in fact if the cheerleaders are hated they are notorious not popular for stereotypically forming little clicks, being stuck up and being underservingly superior to everyone else

they just hang around with each other each person in the group bringing in a fiends that brings a friend and so on they are not really popular popularity is fake they just have more people following them not really knowing who they are and who they are following and sadly but true looks mean everything in america personality is nothing values are garbage and feelings just get in the way for these people and for those of us who happen to value character and moral values and care for the feelings of others we are called losers ,geeks and wierdos beauty is not skin deep its less than that

It's not as clear-cut as it's portrayed in the movies, but jocks and cheerleaders are given clear social advantages. I downplayed my intelligence severely throughout high school to fit in, and it could easily have cost me my university scholarship. Wherever you live, I envy you.

It's true and it's ridiculous if you ask me and quite stupid. When I went to high school the teachers kissed the students' butts that were involved in athletes and the cheerleaders and jocks acted like they owned the place.

Yup, thats how it is, even in elamentary school, how sad, even though secretly the whole part of the school that isn't popular want to kill the ones that are...theyre to afraid to step up, and if they do, nothing changes....thats just the way it goes
