We live in a culture fixated on youth.
Old means feeble and helpless, unable to earn money or climb mountains.
Old is a lot of fun though, because I don't worry about what I say anymore, I wear comfortable clothes, and life is good.

Yes, in a way I do fear getting old, however it is something that I have come to accept, and realize that I'd rather get old and live a full life than have it end prematurely and not fulfill the plans and dreams that I have for my life.
What exactly is it that you fear most about growing old? Physical appearance? Loss of independence? Aches and pains? Death? Driving too slow? (haha, joke) What my mother has always told me is that growing old has not been tramautic for her, when she was 40--she was ready to be 40. Now that she is nearing 60, she's loving it...honestly, she has gotten happier over the years. She says the older you get, the less you worry about what people think about you and can truly live a "free" life, if you know what I mean.
Life is what it is and I think "being old" only sucks if you make it a bad thing--which probably isn't the best idea, since it is inevitable (hopefully). Here's to growing old gracefully!!

No! I enjoy my being 63 years old. I live my age, not by cursing the restrictions that age brings with it,but by readjusting schedules. I cannot any more keep up with the strain of long treks or high mountain routines. But I do enjoy walking up the local hills, an occasional trip with the youngsters, keeping to my pace of activities. The world offers enough variety of activities to suit every age. What is needed is to keep alive in you the wonder of the little child in discovering newer things, enjoying making new acquaintances, and the practice of the old Boy Scout promise to do at least one Good Turn each day. cs r

I used to be afraid. Now, I'm older and I love it. I do what I want, when I want. I think the way I want, dress the way I want, be who I want to be and make no excuses. I've seen a lot of sadness in my time and I've seen a lot of happiness too. I think I've learned so much and then realize how much more there is to learn. If you have the right attitude, you never really grow old anyway. You can grow younger everyday, if you try. I've been counting backwards for years.

I'm already halfway there. It didn't bother me turning 30 or 40, but 50 is really kicking my A S S.

i am just 21 now.sometimes i get scared of getting old,coz i see my grandmom suffering from illness, she is 80.
every one turns old one day or the other but if one sees people suffering in their later years then it becomes scary or else, its okay.one has to be young at heart, then age does'nt matter.
Grow old gracefully....

Yes. I'm 37 and already have noticed "old age" issues starting to come up for me.
Worried about health issues, finances, losing my marbles, being widowed (most women outlive their husbands) and fear being alone and useless.

No I'm not afraid.
I however do not wish to grow old and have to depend on this upcoming generation to care for me in a nursing home.
Hope to be long dead before then.
