Would everyone be willing to give up welfare for universal health care, or should we just give up welfare?

enlightment, is your name supposed to be an oxymoron? I know that there is no connection between welfare and universal health care. I was trying to see if people would be willing to give up the program they have now, welfare, for a program they want, universal health care, or just scrap the program they have now, welfare. Thanks for coming out though, you amuse me.

Universal healthcare is a retarded notion. I have money and I don't want to go to the same doctor as so god-damned illegal. I can afford my healthcare and I should not be brought down to their level. They already have free healthcare. You think if someone illegal child gets hurt cause his bottomfeeding dad wants to bring their pregnant mom over a 20 foot wall, the hospital turns them away. No, the state just uses our hard-earned tax dollars to treat them.

Welfare is only there to prevent revolution. Period. If you can think of another reason, please tell me.

Your premise question does not make since. Health care and a welfare systems are not equals that can be traded off for each other.
This country should have universal health care because we are a civilized society. Every one should have access to adequate medical treatment. If people truly think we are the greatest country in the world, they must agree.We should have universal health care because it's the right thing to do.
Simultaneous to this idea is the fact that if we had no system to catch and support those Americans at the very bottom, there would be a plethora of bodies at the morgue dead from starvation. STARVATION!?! In this day and age? In this rich country? The greatest country in the world? How would that make you feel? How could we as a country live with that?
