I know exactly what you mean.
And I notice that this question has very few answers so far....proving that your theory is correct.
I think it just comes down to the fact that most people aren't very intellectual and would rather think about dating, fashion, entertainment, and trivial stuff, and not about real issues and problems.
That, and the fact that there is such a rapid turnover in Yahoo Answers. Questions quickly get buried by newer questions and people don't find them unless they really dig for them.
I think a lot depends on luck....if there happen to be a lot of people who see your question when it is brand new and are interested in answering it, you are in luck. But most of the time, they're not interested.
Same thing happens to me.

Because the vast majority of the users of this service are teenagers who answer only to get points. It would be far too tedious to answer a serious question for them; it would require some thinking and maybe even typing more than two full sentences. It's far easier to just make up some crap about... well, crap, and get the same 2 points out of it.
Personally I prefer one good answer to a thousand bad ones. It doesn't bother me too much that there are so many unintelligent point chasers around here (also I do answer some less serious questions, one can't always be so relevant, right :)); but I'm also sad about the fact that those good questions get buried under those crap mountains so fast. So I usually hang around those not-so-popular categories...

THis happens to me also... I ask what I think to be an awsome thought provoking question, and I get 2 answers, usually one is somebody gaming for points or being a smart elic.... I guess the real world with facts and truth, just don't cut ut anymore for people. Why are they so eager to run after conspiracies, dumb folklore, gossip, and stereotypes than in reality and truth... all these people want to do is be stupid and waist their time.
I think Yahoo should change it's slogan from: "real people, real questions, real answers"
to, "Fake people, ignorant questions, dumb answers."
I like yahoo! Answers, but sometimes I get fed up with all of the immature time-waisters and ignorant hateful questions, don't you?
If people actually displayed some intelligence instead of niave questions, this place would be much more enjoyable.
Well, anyway, time for bed, God bless you and yours...

I looked back over your question list to see what you'd been up to. First of all, I only saw about 8 questions. Most of those pertained to musicals. I'd suspect the Yahoo! Answers crowd is not a musicals crowd. Try a little more variety in your questions. Some of mine get a couple of answers, some get dozens. It depends on the nature of the question. Try asking a "give me your opinion" question. Those seem to garner a large response.

Some people use this as an out let to have fun and that's ok it keeps them from doing things that might hurt someone. And there are the one that only answer real questions. The thing is you have the final say you pick what you like.

Because people don't seem to understand the smart questions. They just want the points and that's why they answer the harder ones. I have the same problem with getting my questions answered as well.

Welcome to the club, my dear, lol=P!
Why is that, I wonder?
A sign of laziness? Not having to do "homework", etc.
Also I guess for most people, smart questions causes TOO much brain activity.
Like a major headache I imagine for these individuals can handle!
Stupid questions get stupid answers, usually it's from people who're bored, really... nothing more.

I think you already know the answer to this question.
I prefer to answer real questions.
But today is the first time I've seen you. Had I come across one of your real questions earlier I probably would have answered it.

The simple answer is that real questions frighten most folk........for a number of reasons
A lot of folks like to live only surface lives based on pleasure and entertainment, deep questions force them to think about issues they are choosing to postpone or ignore
Second, tough questions require real wisdom to respond to and unfortunately real wisdom is in short supply
I prayed for wisdom when i was a young man of 21.......it has cost me a lot to obtain, but it is a most valuable possesion...far above gold I would love to share my thought with you on any subject.................there is much i don't know............some I've forgotten.......but I like to help truth seekers like yourself find a framework for purposeful living
