I had my car towed to a nearby AAA repair shop to have a motor put in my car but when they told me what it would cost, I nearly passed out. I was ready (reluctantly) to pay about half that. I know it's a big job and I'm willing to pay a fair price. I just think that's over the top. Whadda you Motor Heads think?

If that's what it cost, would you put that kinda money in a car that old?

Sorry to tell you this your car has reached the point of diminishing returns. Any thing you do to this 13 year old unit means you will have to drive it for another four years. How do you like your self in the car. Do you look into the reflection in the store windows? and say I look great in this car? Or who is that cheep sunafabitch! Consider the Taurus a write off and save up a down payment "The engine $3,700" And tow it and trade it take 500 for the taurus toward your down on a new car it is year end sales time act soon! SORRY FOR THE HARSHNESS

If it is just a regular stock engine. I would say pass on that. That sounds a bit pricey for a stock engine. Honestly I would just use that money to put a down payment on a new car. I am not sure how much money you have. However from what I heard Ford Taurus are very unreliable and exciting ,if you will, to drive.

my labor book shows it at 20.2 hours labor so i would say they are a lil to high on there price -do a lil shopping around or just get another car -those cars are known for trans problems too so if you put a motor in it and then the trans goes south your in way over your head in it then.
