i rebuild a motor arite put it back together. got it to running and had a knocking sound kinda same as before when i spun a bearing. My question i had messed up exhaust valve could that been the knocking own the new motor? or think it might spun new bearing? It sounds like its at the top the motor not really sure its costing me out the a** own this eng tho.

Does it have oil? Long time ago my car made a knocking noise I had an oil leak come to find it was near empty.
or Could be valves tapping.

That sounds exactly like a spun rod bearing. Did you Plastigate all of the bearings before you bolted it all together? And did you use the right undersize bearings?

pull the motor and start over, it could be the wrong bearings or it could be the wrist pins slapping around

BENT PUSH ROD, BAD TIMING, WEAK LIFTER SPRING, FLAT SPOT ON CAM, LOOSE ROD CAP, ETC,ETC.

try a higher octaine gasoline.
