What makes your throat hurt? Is it that the germs or virus leech onto that area of your body somehow?

I have a sore throat right now...it sucks! I hope it doesn't turn into a full-fledged cold by tomorrow morning.

The lymph nodes in the body filter out impurities and some of the largest ones are in the throat. They start to swell and cause the throat to be sore. Gargle with salt water or peroxide. This will help alleviate the soreness.

A sore, scratchy throat is often the first sign that you're getting sick, and it's a common reason people see their doctors. Most sore throats, such as those that accompany a cold or the flu, are caused by viral infections and usually go away on their own within a few days.

Only a small portion of sore throats are the result of strep throat. But it's important to identify this bacterial throat infection for a number of reasons. Unlike other causes of sore throat, strep throat is treatable. The bacteria that cause strep throat respond quickly to antibiotics, and treatment stops the infection from spreading to other people.

If not treated, strep throat infections can sometimes cause complications such as rheumatic fever. Rheumatic fever can cause painful and inflamed joints and a rash, and can even result in damage to heart valves. Another potential complication of strep throat infections is kidney inflammation.

Because the air (where the germs are) you breath passes trough your throat before it gets to your lung, so when youre starting to get sick, it is very easy for it to get sore, but i think that everything in the human body has a plus side, if you know youre body well you will know that everytime you get a sore throat, you fastly drink youre medicine and dont let the virus or agent get to you fastly..ope this advice gets you beter:D

A lot of times, a sore throat is caused by a post-nasal drip that irritates your throat. This evolves into congestion that involves your nose and sinuses.

However, sore throats can also be caused by an infection in your throat, like strep throat, which is caused by a bacteria. However, strep throat usually appears after you have had a cold or other infection, when your immune system is impaired.

Sore throats can also be cause by overuse of your voice, like shouting at a game.

I'm not sure, but maybe it's because that how the germs get in. You usually breathe in harmful things that cause you to get sick, and they have to go down your throat. Anyways, I hope you feel better! ^_^

Sore throats can be caused by bacteria coating your throat causing it to be infected...infection means pain. Sore throats can also be caused by coughing too much or yelling too much. This strains your throat kind of like when you strain a muscle and thus causes pain.
