I can never tell sometime i get the good one sometime i get the bad how can i tell?

hehehe. do you do the tapping/knocking technique? coz that can come through for you, most of the time. they say that if you knock on the fruit, then the one with the most hollow sound is probably the sweetest.

Thumping is one method as is feeling the exterior of the melon for any telltale soft spots. If it has any...put that one back! Color can help and sometimes I will even smell the melon to see if it smells fresh! Happy Eating!

forget the the thumping,, most people like these can't do it right,,, all you have to do is buy the one with a large yellow spot were it would have sat on the ground ,, this shows that it has ripened in the sun!!

knock on it. If it sounds hollow its not ripe but if it sounds solid, it is ripe.
