I have a wireless network installed in my home. The computer that is upstairs and furthest away from the portal, always selects a neighbor's signal and so it can't access the internet. I want to be able to remove that from my Available Network, but I can't - it's always there. I'm running Windows XP

If you right click on the wireless network icon by the clock, choose "Open Network Connections", right click on the wireless connection, choose "Properties", click on the "Wireless Networks" tab, choose your neighbor's connection, click on "Properties", click on the "Advanced" Tab, and uncheck the "Connect when this network is in Range" box. This should stop your laptop to not connect to your neighbor's wireless network.

Goto the properties of the Wireless Card. Once there, click on the Wireless Network tab... under preferred networks, make sure your network is first on the list, and remove any unwanted networks.

you just have to tell it! Computer, don't be looking at any other signals other than my signal. If you do, I have to reformat your hard drive.

Or you could just setup the wireless card parms on the pc and that would do it as well.

there should be an option, if you can get your network upstairs, to make it the default one, and if you have a hard time getting your network upstairs, try a booster station or even running a hard wire to another station upstairs.
