Why we are fascinated with celebrities?

I would imagine people are fascinated with celebrities because it gives the average joes and janes something to dream about in their humdrums lives. We are envious of the rich and more fortunate. At times in a sadistic manner, it feels good when some shallow,rich, snooty celebrity messes up in the public's eye. We also like stories of redemption though, when someone overcomes alcohol abuse or the loss of a loved one. It gives us the chance to pry into the lives of the public, the vulnerable.

Some people would say because they're gorgeous, they're rich, and they live these fascinating lives that everyone thinks is better than theirs because they'll never quite know the bad parts unless it's thrown in a tabloid. They have the ability to do things we can't sometimes, the celebrity-status to get things normal people wouldn't get on occasion.

They're hyped up and idolized and everything glamorous and good.

That's what some people think.

We are fascinated with celebrities because we always say to ourselves, "They made it big. Why can't I?" It's pretty obvious: They either have rich families that enrolled them into acting/singing or they went to a college and an agent liked them and picked them. Also, they seem to have everything an average person would want. Fame, fortune, beauty, etc. Don't worry about it. I'm glad I don't have a paparazzi up my ***!

I have no idea... but I find myself intrigued by them also. I buy people magazine and find myself searching up on how something worked out about something I've read months ago... yadda yadda yadda.... Strange. I think it's just natural curiosity. If you heard something about your neighbors (did he really cheat on her with so and so...) you would want to find out more. Even if you don't care, it's human nature to be curious. Some more than others. I'm a very nosy person, I'll admit that. So when I hear things about ... for example Brad, Angelina and Jen.... I read up on them to see how things work out.

Thats a good question. I know I shouldnt really care, but we subscribe to gossip magizines at the salon where I work, and we all fight over them to get the freshest gossip. Its kinda pathetic, but i love it haha

Because we have boring dull lives and work our buns off to make the paychecks we make, so of course we need someone else to envy.

Because we think their lives are more glamorous than ours because they have money and fame. The truth is they have hard lives like anyone else, so it's a shame we worship them like that.
