1) My suggestion is to study in Lviv because in the east of Ukraine even in Kiev the majority of people speak Russian in daily life and you won't have chance to practice your Ukrainian..

Here are some schools that in Lviv that offer teaching, and can arrange a homestay..

Lviv University offers a summer course in Ukrainian as well as year round courses and private tuition..

Lviv Catholic University also offers a summer course and tuition..

International house is a private language school where you can teach English at the same time as learning Ukrainian

2)In the cities..a lot of young people especially will speak English..Sometimes you have to be firm , and say that you want to speak just Ukrainian. Older people and in the countryside are less like to speak English. So it is good to make conversations with them.

3)I found that a more natural way of picking up a language than class..is by joining a club or doing a hobby such as a sport, and naturally using the language I'm learning there to communicate with..
