LOTS of people....that is why the divorce rate is so high...

And lots of people who stick with their marriages are just 'grinding it out'....staying together for the kids or because it's the right thing to do according to their religion or personal morals....

There is a theory that the 'pair bond' in humans is only designed to keep people together long enough to raise kids (and not 18 years as in todays world but rather the 7 years or so it would take to raise a child to semi-independance in the ancestral hunter/gatherer environment). This is why 'love' often does not last and can even turn into bitter hatred.

It's sad and not what I WANT to believe but mostly what I DO believe.

Yes but its no use even talking about it, because it helps none. Divorce is not an option for me, for many reasons. I have been in a miserable merriage for 13 years and counting, it never gets easier, only harder as you get older and you watch your years go by.....You hope for some miracle to free you for it would be an easy way out, but soon realise your asking for the imposible....You try to find some happiness and fullfillment in what you have but to no avail....You learn to accept that this was your fate it was meant to be.....
You're not alone, but I know this would not confort you, surely there is a better option right? If you ever come across one, then maybe you can let me know too...

Yeah, I am miserable in my marriage as well. I have been married for seven years and my husband has been abusive to me and my children, he drinks and reaks of alchohol, he is so boring, and I haven't had a wedding band on in almost three years. Sometimes, I wish he would walk out the front door and leave.

Yes, usually. Did you see Oprah today? .....it was very interesting. About how some women lose a big part of themselves when they get married. Also why no one ever talks about how tricky marriage can be. It's not awful , but I wish I were happier. I plan to raise my kids and then live on a commune with my friends. :)

I have a very unsatisfying marriage. It was an egregious error for me to marry this woman, but I'm sticking with it because I made a promise, and I believe God will make it work. I, a Christian, made the mistake of marrying a non-Christian.

yes, I am.after 19 years... I have tried everything EVERY THING! and so now I give up. As I am packing up (as to his instructions that anything I don't pack gets tossed) I have stopped wearing my ring and really don't care anymore. I've bent over backwards. Stressed to he point of needing meds and cried myself silly over the mental abuse. So, yes, I'm miserable but not for too much longer. Wish this helped me any.

I'm not miserable, but I'm not dancing around with a basket of flowers either.

I guess I'm just content. Could be better, could be worse. Maybe you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

Yes, some spouses are just assholes whose sole purpose in life, it seems, is to make us miserable. Sometimes I'd rather be dead than be married another day. But then there are the kids.....

If you are miserable in your marriage, then consider a divorce. Well, i can't say that... but it depends on what you are depressed about, is it your spouse, spending time together?? It just depends hun.
