There are tornado chasers but a hurricane chaser falls under the category of idiot. Our government doesn't see that as a viable income option. YET!
But, if you keep practicing (chasing hurricanes that is), I'll bet you get really good at it.

Nope. Because like you, they are just doing their job. It is their job to make sure that all that are not residents of the area are gone. This frees things up if they have to evacuate the residents of the area.
In order to remain, you would have to have authorization from the government (as in scientific study). If no authorization, bye bye.
