It all depends on what type of game you are talking about.
If you are looking for a massivly multiplayer game with a monthly subscription fee, most people will tell you World of Warcraft.
If you are talking about a first person shooter, I like Battlefield 2 or Unreal Tournament.
Titan Quest is another great game that you can play online.
I could go on, but it is hard without knowing what genre of online game you are looking for.

Well I think Tactics Arena (www.tacticarena.com) like a chess game. Or Rune Scape (www.runescape.com) like a crappy World Of Warcraft. Or Poker Stars (www.pokerstars.com) Texas Holdem Sight. The last one is my favorite.

My all time favorite is There---www.there.com. You get to hang out and do stuff in a virtual world, like paintball, buy clothes and houses, chat with friends. You make an avatar that looks like a real person and you can run around and ride on things too. Too much to explain here!
