Japanese/Chinese manga in Australia follows US printing, so they are mostly printed from left to right. You don't really notice the difference unless the directionality of the layout is a part of the story, so some mangaka (artists) who uses the position of panels to enhance her/his story, the message/joke will fall flat.

To be honest nowadays I don't really notice it. I pick up an english book and I'd read from left to right, I pick up a Japanese book and I'd read right to left. As long as they stick with it (Japanese right-left, western left-right), there's no problem. However, I think if many parts of the manga depends on how the panels are placed to tell the story, then it should stick with the original. You won't find a solid conclusion to this, it's a bit like subtitled anime/dubbed anime debate.

I stick to reading manga in Japanese, however, not because of reading from left to right or otherwise, but a lot of the nuances are lost in the english translation.

I used to read scanlation manga, so i use to read it from right to left. In my country there are some manga (mostly from Japan) that printed from left to right and some from right to left. But recently the new manga release mostly printed from right to left (that make me happy :) )

Ah. I guess I missunderstood the question at first. In the US, manga from Japan is reprinted from right to left, like the original.

Right to left in Singapore and I prefer it this way as well. Left to right in manga seems strange to me...
