I have travelled in my passed and it is interesting what happends to you when you have done just that, travelled out side your country of origin for a few years, then come back. I think my eyes are open alot wider than before, both for good and bad reasons.

My cousin, a college professor, moved to Melbourne many years ago. An american, started raising a family there and loved it. But, like here in the U.S., and as noted from some responses from some Australians on this message board, you have spooks everywhere who want to blame everyone else for their problems. I'm quite sure that had the general concensus in Australia been as described in some of these posts towards Americans, he would have left many years before he did. In fact, he only moved back, because his Australian born wife wanted to move to the U.S. But, I too have travelled, only to Europe. The world is a big place, and every culture is different. The worst thing anyone can do is to come into another country, and expect them to bend to your will, and to adapt to you. The first thing I learned in Europe was that I was not there to change hundreds of years of tradition and culture. So, why do some people expect Americans to do the same for them? As a visitor, we owe it to our host country to at least try to adapt. That was what I have learned.

Aussies tell u the truth even if it upsets u because in the long run u needed to know so u didn't get your feeling hurt by a stranger.
Americans r different to the rest of the world because they think they r better than everyone else eg- my house is bigger,my car is faster,it's all my,my,my.
The rest of the world (not america) try to get on with u & strive to learn new things even if it takes a long time & effort.
