I am 25 years old. I have been having practically non-existent menses for almost 2 years. I am not pregnant (confirmed by ob-gyn and absence of baby). I have not lost or gained a lot of weight. I was on the pill but stopped maybe two-and-a-half years ago. About a year ago I went to the doctor who did a crapload of bloodworm. She says that everything is normal.

I would go somewhere else, but the doctor is very expensive with my health insurance and I would at least like some idea of what could be wrong before I let someone run another 1k of tests.

As previously stated - I have been to the doctor. I have been to the OB-GYN. All that they have told me is that everything looks normal. I simply cannot afford to go to another doctor who will charge me a thousand dollars and tell me that everything looks normal. I am looking for some information to present when I am again told that everything "looks normal" when it clearly is not.

Only a doctor is going to know that, honey. The last time I went without it was for about 3 months (though I'd gone once before that for 6 months before it finally came back), and it was partly stress, partly my cycle having been messed up by having a baby, and partly I think by my gaining weight and not eating right. When I don't eat right, my body rebels. It could also be drastic weight loss or huge amounts of exercise (ever see that move where Demi Moore played a girl Marine? She exercised rigorously every day on top of what they had her doing for training just trying to keep up with the men and eventually her menses stopped). Anorexics eventually stop having a period.

But planned parenthood is a good cheap place to go. I started going to them when I was 15 and I could never afford to pay much and they were always affordable. But the last time my period stopped, the doctor gave me something to make me start bleeding and started me on the pill again to try sort things out. And they didn't do any tests.

Has your doctor ever mentioned anything about something called PCO, polycystic ovaries? Look into it.. contact me if you want more info or advice. I have PCO.
