Why do people dance the "polka" if they do not know how it is done?

I view this being done and it is very annoying to watch . Either do it right or don`t do it at all .

I'm going to guess that when they do it and don't know how, alcohol likely plays a big part in that.

Trust me, this is just a stage (being annoyed). I'm no longer irritated at other people dancing Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha-cha-cha, Ruma, Samba when they don't know how it's done. I'm no longer irritated to see cheesy Tangos produced in Holliwood in the movies either. ("True lies" or new "Shall we dance".... brrrr... aweful, or plane funny ) Those used to make me want to scream "Hire someone good!" It's just a stage... Once you get even better at dancing, you won't be irritated.

They are just having fun. They don't care to do "correct" polka. Or maybe they never had a chance to learn. What is correct polka in your opinion anyway? Polka was danced differently in different places of the world, and there are many variation on patterns. Technique lessons on polka are actually very hard to come across nowdays because not too many people know anything about it.

Dancing isn't math. Only in math 2x2=4 and nothing else. Dancing is art and expression. Let them have it :-)

There is more than one way to polka my dear. There are Polish polkas, German polkas and Americanized polka. Who are you to decide that what someone is doing is right or wrong? People have a right to get up and dance and enjoy themselves however and whenever unless infringing on other people's rights. If watching others dance the polka some way other than your way bothers you - leave....:}

why does it bother people when other people[who are just having fun] dance wrong ? I hope all these dance critics are real happy with themselves. Getting jeers and laughter is no fun nd causes many to be too bashful to get out and dance. Why do you care? If you don't like it get the ----- out! Maybe they know better than you do. Ever think of that? Or maybe they just know how to have fun. In case you're wondering my wife won't polka with me cause I don't do it 'right'. Now we don't dance at all.
