I've been going to the legal nude beach in my area (Long Island, NY) for the past four years...all through college...and I absolutely LOVE it! The people there are great, it's a good mix of guys and girls, and most of them are in the 20-40 age range...some a little younger, in their late teens, and some a bit older (40+).
It's absolutely awesome to be naked on a beach on a warm summer day. ..laying out, playing frisbee, swimming or just hanging out with friends.
Being a girl, I was a bit concerned about pervs cruising all over me the first time I went naked (freshman year in college) but that didn't happen, and it's no big deal for girls, myself included, to go alone if nobody else is free to go. A few gawkers once in awhile, but that's about it.
I'd recommend that you give it a try...you'll love it, I promise you. And don't be shy about taking your clothes off in front of others...after you're naked for a few minutes you forget all about it and wonder what the big deal really was.

the only people at nude beaches are old people and its not cool to watch your old aunts and uncles tanning naked
makes you wish you stayed home and watched a scary movie instead
the only people who enjoy the nude beach are the people getting nude!!!

I ended up in one in Ibiza two years ago accidentally...it was not plesant..the people who generally get naked are the people who should stay covered up the most!
Not for the faint hearted!
