I have a 1 hp single phase motor . I can hook it up110 volt. Has cw/ccw rotation. Want to wire reversing drum switch 110 volt to control motor . Hooking up motor to raise and lower 700 lb. glass. I need to use a limit switch. Is this possible and what other components do I need to integrate this system to work?

Yes it is possible, since you don't give other limits. You may need pulleys or other mechanical means to lower the torque needed by the motor. If your load exceeds the motor's starting torque, it won't start. You will need to regulate the speed also. Just from a pure physics point of view, 1 HP is 33,000 ft-lb per minute, so the maximum speed you could raise 700 lbs is 47 ft per minute, or about 1 ft in 1.3 seconds.

Whatever switch you use should be rated for the voltage/current (some switches have a horsepower rating). If you use a low voltage limit switch, it can control a relay or contactor that switches the motor power.
