we had a thunderstorm several years ago that worried me as it was happening, then our house got hit by lightning during that storm. To this day, I pace when we have a t-storm, no matter how small. I don't know how people can live in the tornado alley, or in hurricane prone areas. I could not live there, just for that reason. I live in New England, and I don't like the storms we have here.

Yes I have just last month as a matter of fact. We moved into Tornado alley and a real bad storm came rolling through. I was working upstairs when the siren went off so I of course shut down grabbed my purse, phone turned the tv on and up really loud and ran down to the basement. I couldn't get the silly cats down there so I left the door open for them. I heard on the tv that it was moving east down I-80, which freaked me out because I only live 4 miles from I-80 and I knew my boyfriend would be on his way home from work going east of course so I was panicing thinking the worst we have no cell phones so I couldn't call him. The lighting strikes were so bad that they literally lit up my pitch dark basement, there was hail, really bad winds it was scarey as hell. Needless to say my boyfriend made it home in one peace and the tornado never hit ground. I must say it was the scariest 1-1/2 of my life and I don't ever want to be that close to a tornado again that was scarey enough, I couldn't imagine having to go through one.

Yes, a blizzard in North Dakota when I was a little kid, in the late 1940s, when there weren't 4-wheel drive vehicles, cell phones, the Weather Channel, etc. The wind and snow finally subsided enough so my Dad could walk to a farm and get help. If the weather wouldn't have broken, we all would have frozen to death. Ironically, it was the day of my Grandmother's funeral--started off clear with bright blue skies and the storm came out of nowhere.

Yes. In a very intense lightning storm in an airplane. I won't go into great detail, but the plane was hit by lightning and almost crashed. I've only flown once since then, and that was to come back from where the plane was grounded.

...sometime within 1993-1994, Philippines, we were playing in the streets around 4PM when the sky just clouded up, so quick in a matter of minutes, which made the whole atmosphere so dark as if it was already 8PM in the evening...just shortly after the darkening, we went home quickly because winds started bambarding our streets together wich dusts & powdery stuff...it rained the whole night...when we woke up, we learned that Mount Pinatubo Volcano erupted so violent that its ashes reached our neighboring countries, even Canada! It rained for 3 days with no rays of sunshine everywhere!

Well, thankfully I have never been through a tornado or bad hurricane, but we do get horrendous thunder storms every summer that make me hide in the closet.
