Every storm that enters the gulf is seen as possibly the "worst storm in history". You see reports acting as if they are blown down by wind with people walking calmly behind them. I believe this is the cause of the loss of life in Katrina. No one bought the BS. They have heard it too many times. As a 25 year plus resident of the coast I have heard this many times and never before left. I was one of the lucky. My entire family and I are safe and alive. Many are not. I will only leave if another storm exceeds category 3.

Because it gives them something to do. Nothing like watching a stupid reporter standing out in the middle of the storm looking for the garbage can that is blowing down the street. I hope to God they don't get any coverage like they enjoyed during the last 2 years for a long long time.

They use it as a hook to get more veiwers to tune in. Because the possibility is still there that there could be another catastrophic storm. So they keep you updated constantly because a hurricane has now become a new window of opportunity for the news stations to make more money. They know you may not tune into listen how Billy killed Bob because its something you hear all the time but the news stations know that you will tune into listen and watch the new out break of hurricane Jenna that is a catagory three storm but could turn into a 'catagory 4 or 5 storm!' Not likely but the news stations knows just how goluble the public is. And they always manage to add to the sadness by putting theatrical music in the back round to try and get you to shed a tear and or go from sheaden a tear to full out cryen wich means your almost a gauranteed extra veiwer or a more adament veiwer now because of your experience with the broadcast via the t.v. Really if you think about it your answer is retorical. I beleive you probably already new the basics of the truth to your answer but you just needed some kind of varifacation that what you're thinken is true because other people are thinken it to.

SHow close do you live to the coast. I wouldn't have to be told 2x to leave if I ever have to live in such a place. I've seen tornados and believe me, when that siren goes , I get to safety. I don't care about the media "overdramatising. In these cases, I'm glad for it.

if you ever got ur house direct hit you would think they didnt dramatize it enough lol ..... but i do think they pump them sometimes ... its just good buisness and news. they actually warned people in new orleans of the danger of levys breaking from a big hurricane since i was a kid ... theres even a TV documentary of the danger of devastion arising from that .... so if you see on the news a big hurricane coming ur way and u get fuked cuz u didnt leave ,,, dont blame everyone else.

You belittle the people of Katrina by your pompous statement.
