The Biograph film company, owner of a studio in New Brighton, produced the D.W. Griffith film.

Film Studios Located on Staten Island
Fred Scott's Movie Ranch on Sand Lane in South Beach, "the birthplace of the Western", operated from the 1890s to 1914.
Biograph Company opened a studio in New Brighton in 1906 and a second one that operated briefly in Stapleton around1922.
Stapleton Studios operated at the old Navy Homeport site for a short period ending in 2003.
