Or the people you hang out with affect what others think of you?

Most definately. If you dress sloppy or dirty many will think you are poor. You will be treated completely different than someone in a business suit. As a kid you will get picked on if you are not in the fashion that is going around. As an adult some will snob you if you dont dress as well as others. If you over dress or wear very expensive clothes many think you waste your money or feel you are a snob. On the other hand many companies wish for you to dress professionally.
However, if you dress very revealing you are thought of as a slut. If you are overweight and dress in less fitting clothing you are thought of as huge and nasty.
If you are very skinny and dress very baggy you are thought of as sickly. So yes most definately.

You are judged not only on the way you dress, but the way you carry yourself, the way you speak and the company you keep. It is all done under the assumption that you surround yourself with people that are like you. Just remember to dress for the situation. There is a certain style of dress for the night club and another one all together for the office. Casual does not mean club clothes. You send a message out of the type of person you are based on how you dress. That is first thing people notice about you before they even meet you. Make a good first impression because it is the one that lasts forever.

YES! It's all stereotypes. If you dress all preppy and hang out with the preps, you're already been tagged PREPS. The way you dress reveal what kind of person you are, same with the people. Most people judge you by the first impression. So if you're wearing a short mini, and a skimpy top and you meet someone new, they're going to assume you're kinda slutty or w/e. It's all a matter of how you present yourself.

The way we think, is we think that we have to be glamorous we see the movie stars and we see the models and we see the way people look at them and we want to be just like that! Perfect....Is that not the reason that we go on diets, is it not the reason that we shop for the best clothes or perfumes or colognes? we are all just a whole bunch of people wanting to be someone we are not and don't deny it, We all have that perfect image of ourselves whether it be physical or mental, For you guys don't you remember seeing your dad shave and you wanted to do that because you saw him as your hero and you wanted to be like Dad or you had a favorite sport and you wanted to be as fast as Jesse Owens for exp? Or for you girls I think we all have tried on Mothers makeup or we have danced in our minds like that person we see on T.V. So the answer to your question is simply this... We don't think it has an effect we KNOW why do you think it is that we spend almost countless hours in the bathroom applying make up or for me conditioning my hair, using acne wash over and over again? And we all have our standards the popular kids don't hang around with the card playing, computer surfing kids or vice versa Let's face it we live in a world of beauty over thoughts, just take a look at your clothes right now, did you buy them because they were comfy or did you buy them because you knew they would look good on you?

Definitely without a doubt, the way you dress affects the way people perceive you. I assume that a girl dressed in slutty clothes is a slut. I assume that a guy haning out with low life drug dealers is scum himself.

It depends on the type of people you're trying to impress. I think if a person is dressed in stuff that looks old, dirty, or wrinkled, they wouldn't get as great of an impression as someone dressed up.

Absolutely! Birds of a feather flock together... hanging w/ a bad image gives you a bad image... hanging w/ the populars makes you popular.... dressing like a slob makes you a slob, and dressing like a prep makes you a prep.

Deffly, just because i dress in black or odd/funky cloths it makes me a freak. Or a satanist. Its sad really, cuz I'm really nice, but when people look at me they get scared and go the other way.. haha ok so its funny sometimes.

Clearly it does.

An extreme senerio: If you go to a busniess meeting with important CEO's, and you show up with a homeless mans wardrobe on complete with piss stains dried on your ripped pant leg, those business people will definitly see you very differently than how you are as a person.
