What are your thoughts on Traccfone? I have had it for the past 2 years. I like the prepaid function, but there is one thing I have a higher priority for: a good phone. The RAZR has camera, video playback, speakerphone, quad-band capability, and Bluetooth capability. My Tracfone Motorola V170 doesnt even have a camera, and that's sad. Do think a cheap phone is worth the prepay?

My first cell phone was a Tracphone and for about a year it served it's purpose, BUT on a minute per minute basis, it is expensive to operate and is pretty basic.
I was glad to upgrade to a camera phone with a few of the goodies you mentioned and really prefer it....we use them everyday, why not have something you love?

It really depends on how much you use your phone. Tracfone's per minute charges are pretty high compared to other phones, even with bulk discounts. If you don't use your phone that much you're probably better off keeping it. I doubt that you can find a service that has a RAZR for prepaid service. T-mobile and Cingular are the carriers that sell RAZRs.

A good alternative you might consider is Virgin Mobile. They have cheap phones and a good plan. It's $.25 per minute for the first ten minutes and then only $.10 per minute after that. Or you can opt to buy the day at $.10 per minute for a dollar. There is no minumum usage or charge.

You can find them here:

i used to have a tracfone then i got a razr. i mean... the tracphone was a lot better their phones just weren't too cute ya know. i think its good to stay with prepaid bc those cell phone companies will get you with with every extra fee and its just annoying... texting theyll charge you... even to get text messages they charge you. the tracfone is alot better. who needs stupid bluetooth... i have bluetooth i dont think i'll EVER use that but whatever. a camera... i use it sometimes btu i have a digital camera anyway so who needs that. tracphones have the motorola and i had that same one the v170 and its really not a bad phone it just doesn't have the bells and whistles... id stay with tracfone if i were paying for it bc its just like you are in control and its anoying getting those stupid cell phone bills for 50 or 60 bucks a month.

Had a Tracfone and could not wait to get rid of it; it was practically useless when I traveled.
