if it's an expansion pack, then yes. I'm not sure, you should check the box.

I think you would because usually in order to play an expansion game you need the regular one also. Like for Diablo 2: exapansion you need Diablo 2<--(nonexpansion)

most probably, because for AOEII: Conquerors Edition it needed the base game (AEOII)
