I know, I noticed that myself, it seemed that every time they needed luck, it would just come to them. They would be outplayed the whole match, on the brink of defeat, then suddenly, boom! Like a divine wind they would get lucky. I don't understand why they are so lucky, why does fortune favour cheaters?

Every match has an own history. Italy was playing in 10 against Australia so they had the duty to defend more and they lost sth in attack for this reason. Germany was a very strong team. They were playing in their stadium with all their fans around but anyway Italy had the chance to score several times. Remember they got 2 piles with Gilardino and Zambrotta. They were unlucky but they believed till the end, they could score, so they did. It showed the strength of their character. They defenetly didn't score in the end against France. They simply won with penalties. And they deserved it cause they had the guts to draw against France 8 minutes after they scored, even if France's defence is really good when it comes to keep the result. And they had the guts to score each penalty. If you ask questions like this with a clear purpose I could also ask you WHY FRANCE DIDN'T SCORE A REAL GOAL IN THE LAST 2 MATCHES ?! (2 matches, 2 penalties!)

Look, seriously, Italy traditionally plays a defensive game, so they don't score many goals in one game, and they tend to take advantage of a mistake by the opposing team to score. I guess that towards the end of a game a team gets more relaxed because they are tired and they are already thinking about the extra time or the penalty kicks, and that's when Italy hits them.
You may argue that it's not the most exciting way to play, especially from a spectator's point of view, you may want to see more attack and goals, but it's smart and effective. They win and in the end that is what really matters.

Italy, as well as many Euro teams, have an highly tactical behavior. First, you need to control the match; Second you need to take any scoring opportunies the break the draw.
You need to be careful and calm to manage those match.
Of course, if BOTH teams share match control, it could easy be a draw in regular time (and sometimes in e.t. too)

AUS match is meaningless in my opinion. Materazzi was send off with an unfair red card at 50', Italy played 10 men against 11 so far better - it only needs to take a look to FIFA official match stats, and had an unfair penalty in last minutes.
Main actor was Fabio Grosso, who next will score a great goal at 119' in Germany match.
An unknown defender who goes attacking in the very last minutes, trying a great shoot as against Germany.
This could be a key - great team spirit, willingness, bravery ... and a bit of luck, of course ... WHEN YOU WIN ...
More careful and informed French supporters perfectly know how does it feel to won at last minute ...

France and all the other countires had over 90 minutes to score a winner -- so don't pull that sh*t... Don't use Italy as an excuse because France didn't get the job done. They had chances and a questionable penalty in the 7th minute yet the trophys in Rome... figure that one out!?!

Australia- the trip that was heard around the world. poor grosso had 2 fall down to win. tells u who the real cheaters are.

Germany- they waited until the germs were tired. bet u there lawyers told them that plan.

France- come on, the were out of ideas and knew from the beginning they were gonna lose so they were nervous and materazzi accidently thought zidane's "majestic head" was the ball and tried to chest it but realized it was zidane. and like a true "italian" dived down.

Near as I can tell, they are so much better than everyone else they tend to fall asleep until reminded there are only moments left on the clock. I think at that point they draw straws to see who will score. Why else?
