I was vacationing there recently, and I saw a few. Anyone know how they got there? My theories are that someone brought them over to be hunted, they were already there when the island broke off, or they swam. Anyone know for sure?

i'm sure that's what happened. i don't think they swam over from the mainland.

" 1926 – The first deer were brought to the island."

Probably either they were there before the island broke off or swam. Deer were around New England long before Western civilization got there and were never driven out like some species so it's impossible to tell for sure.

Do Deer Swim To Islands

The deer swam there. This is common and I have seen it in Washington State Puget Sound Islands. Kyakers see it frequently.

Some people even cut the deer throats while they are swimming for an easy kill. (sick I know)

There once was a doe from Nantucket
Who floated there in a big bucket.
She found a big buck and had a nice f**k
Leaving lots of offspring in Nantucket.

This may not be true, but I challenge you to find a more entertaining answer.
