simple answer NO! Forever Shi-Ites against the Sunnis as has been historical with outside agitation from Iran (Shi-Ites also).
Now we have created a nightmare by putting the majority Shi-Ites in power - Iran cant wait until we leave - they are licking their chops.
Iran fought a long war with IraQ and were unsuccessful by a long shot to acheive what we have done for them (by putting the Shi-Ites in power) and paying for it with our cash and our soldiers lives.
Oh what Bush and his gang have done!!!!

You're right, some of them are fighting for independence. It is unlikely we will win a long term peace in the Middle East at this time, not due to lack of effort, but due to the bigotry and intolerance of the people of the region.
Any group of people who have a very determined, controlling core, who are operating from hate and intolerance are not controllable over a long period.
It's interesting that a region of the world that could be so awesomely great, and economically strong keeps destroying their chances through hatred, bigotry, and intolerance of other religions.

What? It isn't fast enough for you? Did you not get your french fries along with your Big Mac and Coke? You think this is a "fast food" type war? Have YOU ever been in combat? Do YOU have any REAL EXPERIENCE in war? Obviously not. Only impatient, immature babies demand a war won on their own demanding timetable, without attention to the realities of the adult world. If you're in such a hurry for victory, why don't YOU go join in the fight over there?! I'm sure they would accept your assistance, if they could trust you wouldn't wet yourself and run when the heat got going. Until then, we'll win the war within reasonable human military time schedules. God Bless you.

Winning the war in Iraq is defined as training enough Iraqis to provide for their own security, the eventual withdrawal of MOST of our troops, and for the Iraqis to govern themselves. Old GW said it was going to be long and costly. We can WIN the war if the American people will allow it. Right now, what with our "unbiased" media and some of our leading politicians working against our winning, you might flip a coin for your answer. In parting, WE'D BETTER WIN OR we will have mass graves here and in most other counries in the world as we found in Iraq.

Patience. The war in Iraq was over in 3 weeks. We must win the peace...just remember, 60 years after WWII we still have troops in Germany and Japan.

If the Iragis truely wanted the US to leave they'd stop fighting for at least a year. The US would think the area was safe & leave. Then if the area wanted to desend into civil was they could. The public wounldn't allow them to return.

Nope. We will never win. Arabs are very proud of their heritage and will never let go. Palestines, Arabs, Jews have been fighting for centuries without reaching a true truce. So imagine losing temporarily to Americans....they will strike back...many, many times, over and over, for years and years.
I hope the war comes to an end.

Of course not, Bush thinks that he is right and he's just trying to finish what his father has done so now it's no longer about the common good it's just about bush and his stupid male pride.
