Corruption within the Roman Empire, ambition, along with greed and an arrogance all contributed to the fall of the Roman Empire, We have seen corruption in our Government[Libby-De Lay and others accused] we have seen arrogance in our president and Americans believing our troops are superior and able to conquer all. Tax breaks for oil companies resulting in record profits[greed] Can we call this a moral decay????

I've been saying that for years. Wonder who will be our invaders, however, you must remember that rome lasted for 800 years. So we aren't even half way there, yet. And it wasn't really a weakened military so much as having multiple attackers coming from multiple fronts that the military couldn't deal with.

Well, as I get IM's from my son in Iraq, and a friend's son who's in Afghanistan, the only people who think we have a weakened military are the lucky souls that haven't come up against it, and the fools who haven't listened to the most accurate sources of information and rely on things like CNN, FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC, nytimes, etc. If you think we're so weak militarily, why don't you go try to pick a fight with them? Because, beyond all your bullshit, you're actually smart enough not to. You'd like to live a few more decades, in a country where you can badmouth anybody you want to while that "weakened military" whups *** all over the globe to give you that freedom. One day you'll mature enough to see the absolute stupidity of your "question". And you most likely will be too embarrassed to admit you asked it. God Bless you.

LOL - the climate ultimately getting under ninety. we don't in all probability get the leaves changing and stuff right here in New Orleans. some trees turn gold yet we don't have the enormous determination of colorings like they do have been I grew up in West Virginia.

Yes, but the major cause of the fall came after the Emperor named himself the first Pope of the Western Christian Church.

Yes it does sound eerily familiar. It reminds me of the Clinton administration. We couldn't take it any more and elected Bush over the appointed heir to the Clinton legacy - Al Gore.

As large as the global economy is (I say that because they are global players) I think their is plenty of plunder for them.
What worries me is I don't think there's enough for all of us and they are holding all the cards.
