They're awful. We had the same problem here. It's a late summer thing, evidently.
Cover all of the sources of water and food in the house -- keep the sink bone dry and free of all dishes, clean off your plates and cookware as soon as you eat, only uncover the garbage when you throw something away, and keep pet areas free of dander and dropped morsels of food. Don't lose the bread twist ties. Keep areas of the house prone to mold sealed and clean (ie: basements, closets in some old houses)
If you do have pets and you feed them a moist diet, switch to dry for about three days. After two days the flies you have now will be dead. All of their offspring should be wiped out after four days, maximum.

capture them. placed slices of fruit like cantaloupe (properly ripened is nice) in a coffee can or a deep field (no longer a "see-by using"). leave it out at night close to the kitchen sink; greater so which you will get to it (you will see...). First guy or woman up interior the morning takes a hand towel and slowly ideas-set the can, then rapidly toss the towel over the can suitable. carry that down tight and circulate outdoors. circulate faraway from the residing house and launch the bugs. they are comfortable to vibrations and scurry somewhat, so the ideas-set could be comfortable & quiet interior the morning. Repeat as many times as necessary. it particularly is carried out interior the day time, yet at night is nice. be certain you clean out the kitchen sink & drains thoroughly or they'll basically come again.

There's a website you can go to, and order some traps. They're a rectangle of sticky stuff on paper, that you can either lay on top of an area of infestation (like a containter), or roll it up into a cylinder. Just type in "fruitfly traps" on your search engine. They're pretty inexpensive, and they work --safe around kids and pets, too!

Buy a bug bomb. Its a spray can you turn on then leave home for a couple of hours, it works. Get the spray made for fruit flies. Then come home, vaccum them up and clean home.

obvioulsly, keep the windows open and stuff... maybe put some rotten fruit outside in the open until the flies are gone, for bait...
if nothing works, ignore them, fruit flies dont have a long life span, and they should die off w/o food
