- Check your Anti-virus solution, get updates and run scans.
(Avoid the Internet Security editions, since they carry way too much baggage and slow down your system)
You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.
This double whammy will help keep you safe and running faster
- go to START and RUN, type MSCONFIG and uncheck programs that you do not need in the STARTUP section.
If all this fails, SAVE your precious data on CD, then use the RESTORE disk (or Windows Operating system disk) and Reformat and install again.
A computer is not a toy. Do not let him use the computer unattended, until he grows up. Do not let him have a secret password, check to see where he has been. I can only wonder what his NEXT trick will be.

It sounds like you have a worm or a virus/trojan issue. The best and only way to fix this is to reformat your hard drive/system.This is extremely drastic, however it is the only way to be sure!.Hopefully you have backed up your files to the point before your son went and looked at these sites!.If you're using Windows XP Home edition or Pro go to the system restore found under START/ALL PROGRAMS/PC HELP & TOOLS/SYSTEM RESTORE.Take a look at the dates which you can restore your computer to!.This fix can work in some circumstances but it will not fix all!.The most drastic and best of all fixes is to reformat the hard drive,as mentioned above. If the SYSTEM RESTORE function doesn't work then you may have to do a thing called a SYSTEM RECOVERY.If you have made copies of your system files(WHICH EVERYBODY SHOULD !!!!!.).Depending on your system,it may have the system files stored on a hidden partition on your harddisk. If this is the case you are in luck!!!!.The easiest way to get rid of all viruses/adware/spyware etc.,is of course to wipe your harddrives of all malicious programs/software.Depending on your system/software(i.e Virus Protection,Adware Protection),This option is something only attempted by people called computer administratiors.Which again means someone who knows what they are talking about.!!!!.

In your internet expoler, go to tools, internet options and delete internet cookies, files, offline content and history. You will find all of these on the page that pops up. When done click apply and then ok. You may want to also do a virus scan and then do a spyware scan. If you don't have a spyware program go to
http://www.download.com
and download Ad Aware its great!

Before doing any of the other answers, click on the tools on the top tool bar. Click Internet Options, then delete cookies, then delete offline files. Then go offline and do disk cleanup in the Start menu, then disk defragmenter and then ScanDisk, This will take a lot of time but when you try the other solutions, most of the junk will be deleted. First try your anti-virus. Then go from there.

depends on your browser(internet explorer, mozilla, firefox, etc.) but I know for firefox(since that the browser I use) you go to tools, clear private data(which can be done easily with either alt + T + P or ctrl + shift + delete) and then hit clear private data now.
This will clear out all browsing history forever, and if he has them bookmarked then click bookmarks then manage bookmark(no easy little shortcuts this time) and click on all the sites and delete them
now as for keeping your son from going to these sites, I don't know how to make the browser stop him, but kids are smart, if you get a program to block these sites that has kids enter a password, make it HARD TO GUESS! honestly, don't use your pets name or other password that you might share with him, and use a combination of letters, CAPS LETTERS, numbers, and symbols(by doing shift + number, !@#$%^&* using @ instead of an A is good idea)
of course that is if the child is trying to go to these sites, if he stumbled upon them by accident I'm sorry if I offended you

Have a close look at the icons on the tool bar. Can you see a small black upside down triangle at the side of every icon, well if you click on it a drop down menu will appear with all sorts of things on it.
The one you want is on the left of the search box. look for options and personalize your tool bar.
you can also highlight the search and press delete on your keyboard.
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/toolbar/basics/toolbar-10.html
also go to tools>>options and clear cookies ,temp folders and history
its worhwhile down loading a free program called Ccleaner and run it.
