A friend of mine just recently found out that she had chlamydia, she tried to argue the test findings with the doc as she has NEVER had sex with a man before and does not share or even use "toys". Thats when he informed her that the disease can be spread oraly. So if you go down on some one who has it, then kiss them, they could give it back to you(down town). Or you could pass it to your next partner and so on. There aren't really any oral symptoms, so you could cruise around with it for a while. I'm sure most of you know this, but I didn't and found it interesting(and frightening) so I thought I would pass it on.

There is an oral swab test that can be done if you want to be sure that your OK, most docs are pretty good about it by now. She wasn't my partner(thank goodness) but she is having to make some phone calls!

Yay to you for posting this!!! I was aware, but I'm sure that there are many out there who weren't, I never thought of saying something. Our heath as human beings AND as women is soooo important, thank you for spreading the word(not the virus)to other people. This may seem small, but this really is an epidemic as it will effect straight men and women as well as gay. Sexual promiscuity is at a high right now and we could all just be passing this back and forth.

Yeah, you know everybody talks about HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, and they forget about all the other STDs out there. You have to be super careful. And like chlamydia hardly ever shows a symptom in the guy, mostly his girlfriends get it! There are lots of other things you can catch from somebody who LOOK totally healthy.
So until you are both really committed to being monogamous (and I mean really, and for a long time proving it to each other) and then get fully tested, everything should be safe. Still, things like chlamydia and herpes can be spread just from a kiss....so holy cow, think about it!

That's frightening that there aren't oral symptoms. But women don't really feel it vaginally unless it's far along, either.

Too many women don't go to the doctor because of discrimination, and then when we get there, they don't get us. We need to work hard to change that.

Yup! That is why people need to know that it doesn't take intercourse to get STDs. Female to female STDs are possible! Who was your partner with last!
